Simplicity itself

A pub. Called Cock. Shame the wasted the signage on the THE. Just COCK would have been plenty.

The Cock Inn Attleborough

Another Tordoff family holiday highlight. Camping in Thetford Forest - and captured in an albeit slow drive by cocking whilst seeking out a supermarket in order to procure a hundredweight of bacon and some catering size tins of beans.

The Peacock in Huddersfield

This eluded all the northern cockers and once again it was left to the CockMaster General to capture this obvious target for himself. Maybe another cock of the month for me is on its way!

The Woodcock in Hindhead

This one eluded me for a good long time - having driven past it many times without knowing it was there. a bit of cocking background research established its whereabouts and that elusive, shy and ertiring Woodcock was well and truly caught. It was raining and too early for it to be open, so once again, no reports on the beer quality at all.

The Peacock Inn of Goudestone

A bit of research uncovered this well hidden pub called cock in deepest Kent. Long old drive to get there, but I'm sure you'll agree its well worth it - another one crossed off the list of pubs called cock that we have left to catch.

He needs to get his sign fixed - the lights all wonky and partially obscuring his cock pedigree.

The Moorcock Inn

From either Ian B or JungleJinge - sorry chaps can't remember everything you know! A classic of its kind anyway. Wonder where it is?

The Old Cock Inn at Harpenden

Can't remember who caught this one - it might have been ICG?

The Fighting Cocks

A short detour and a swift spin round the car park of this establishment on the Isle of Wight (no prizes for guessing where the Tordoff clan spent their hols this year) was all that was needed to capture this fine example of a pub called cock. Didn't go in because it was full of tourists.

The Gamecock

In West Kingsdown Kent, near Brands Hatch. Researched by ICG and captured by WT after some long hours of searching on the lonely roads of Eastern Kent.

Its a pub called cock and thats why its here!

The Cock Inn

In Idehill near Sevenoaks Kent. A bit of research uncovered this fabulous example quite near the temporary lodgings of WT. Quaint little place but as usual it was shut when I visited so I don't know if its any good as a pub or not.

The Cockpit in Leeds

Took ICG ages and many visits to spot this one - a lesson for even the most experienced cocking colleague - keep your wits about you because you never know when a cock will leap out and grab you!

The Cock and Pheasant

A lovely piece of Cock from near Macclesfiled - captured after a return trip by Il Cocko Grande, following some more photographic failures by him on an earlier trip. Useless bugger.

Whitaker's Cock o' The North

Welcome Welcome to Andy W our newest cocking colleague - he had to move house completely to find this entry - what a stout fellow he is! I cannot better his own comments which follow:

A very old beer mat from Whitakers brewery that was based in the centre of Halifax during my youth (this would be the mid-late 1960's) and they had an huge illuminated neon sign that flashed first the body, then the tail, then the head of a cockerel and then the whole thing all together. It was visible for miles in Halifax.

A great big flashing cock!

I know it has a beer stain on it, but then it is a beer mat.

Oh, and Fanny's Ale & Cider House is on Saltaire road in Shipley, West Yorkshire.
An old haunt of mine, I've had a lot of fun in Fanny's on many a night.

The Black Cock Inn

What a marvellous example from Ian B - I think The Black Cock Inn may be in Cockermouth (a flood of entries having arrived from our favourite haunt in the north west). I will resisit the temptation to make any poor and tasteless jokes about big black cocks.

Cockle Pippin

From Tim's local in Oakworth near Keighley. Beer flavoured with apples and cocks.

Yet another Cock and Bottle

In Bradford this time and submitted by Tim. They really know how to celebrate their cock-status up North; this magnificnet hostelry has one of those blue heritage sign jobs on it. How proud they are to be called cock!
