Whitaker's Cock o' The North

A very old beer mat from Whitakers brewery that was based in the centre of Halifax during my youth (this would be the mid-late 1960's) and they had an huge illuminated neon sign that flashed first the body, then the tail, then the head of a cockerel and then the whole thing all together. It was visible for miles in Halifax.

I know it has a beer stain on it, but then it is a beer mat.


Oh, and Fanny's Ale & Cider House is on Saltaire road in Shipley, West Yorkshire.
An old haunt of mine, I've had a lot of fun in Fanny's on many a night.

What a marvellous example from Ian B - I think The Black Cock Inn may be in Cockermouth (a flood of entries having arrived from our favourite haunt in the north west). I will resisit the temptation to make any poor and tasteless jokes about big black cocks.
